Fix: 'Already Connected to Another Organization'

This message means your Instagram account is already linked to a different Inrō organization. Here's how to free it up and connect where you want.

If Inrō blocks the connection with "already connected to another organization," it means the Instagram account you're trying to connect is already linked to a different Inrō organization.

In Inrō, one Instagram account can be connected to only one organization at a time. This keeps each account's contacts and conversations isolated and prevents two workspaces from managing the same DMs. To connect the account where you want it, it first has to be free from the other organization.

Why you're seeing this

The account is usually tied up in one of these ways:

  • You already connected this Instagram account to another organization, maybe under a different Inrō login or an earlier signup.

  • A teammate, agency, or the account's previous manager connected it to their organization.

  • You started fresh with a new organization, but the account is still linked to your old one.

If the other organization is yours

If you have access to the organization that holds the account, you have two paths:

  • Keep using that organization. Go to Settings → Switch organization and select the one with your Instagram account already connected. Your contacts and conversations are there.

  • Move the account to a different organization. First disconnect Instagram from the organization that currently holds it: go to Accounts → Instagram account in that organization and remove or disconnect the account. Once it's free, connect it to the organization you want.

⚠️ Disconnecting an Instagram account stops its automations and inbox sync in that organization. Only do this in the organization you're moving away from.

If someone else connected the account

If an agency, a former partner, or a previous team member connected the account to their organization, they need to disconnect it on their side before you can connect it. Ask them to go to Accounts → Instagram account and remove the account. Once it's released, try connecting again.

If you can't reach the other organization

Sometimes you can't get the account released: you've lost access to the old organization, the agency is unresponsive, or you want to keep a special price tied to your current organization. In that case, reach out to our support team and we'll reset the connection based on your situation.

This is the same reset described in How to change your linked Instagram account, and the same conditions apply.

⚠️ A reset clears the contacts, conversations, scenarios, and campaigns on the organization being reset. Nothing is removed from Instagram itself, only from Inrō. Tell support which account and situation you're dealing with so they can pick the safest option.

🐾 Netsuke's Tips

  • If you manage several Instagram accounts, give each one its own organization rather than trying to swap them on a single workspace. Switching between them takes one click under Settings → Switch organization.

  • Before asking support for a reset, double-check you aren't logged into the wrong organization. The account you're looking for may already be connected one switch away.

⚠️ If the issue persists

If you've freed the account and connecting still fails, the problem may be a different connection error. See How to fix common Meta & Instagram connection errors, or contact support with a screenshot of the message.
