Introduction
Inrō's automated messaging actions enable dynamic and personalised interactions with your Instagram audience. This article explains how to utilise four key messaging actions, their benefits, how to set them up, and outlines any technical limitations.
1. Send a Message
Quickly engage users by sending personalised DMs that can respond to user actions or initiate new conversations.
How to Use: Choose "Send a message" in your campaign/scenario setup. Type your message, you can even use emojis & custom variables in your messages to personalise them with the recipient’s name or other details.
Technical Limitations: As per Instagram API, messages must not exceed 2,000 characters which means about 300-500 words.
2. Send a Photo or Video
Photos and videos can significantly increase engagement rates and help convey your message more vividly.
How to Use: Choose "Send a Photo or Video" in your campaign/scenario setup. Upload the file from your device. Ensure the content aligns with your campaign's goals.
Technical Limitations: Photos have a maximum size limit of 8MB and support the following types - JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF.
Videos have a maximum size limit of 25MB and support the following types - MP4, OGG, AVI, MOV, WEBM
3. Send an Audio Message
Audio messages add a personal touch and can be more engaging than text, especially when conveying emotion or urgency.
How to Use: Choose "Send an Audio Message" in your campaign/scenario setup. Record the message directly or upload an audio file.
Technical Limitations: Audio files have a maximum size limit of 25MB and support the following file types - AAC, M4A, WAV, MP4
4. Send a Post/Reel
Leverage your existing Instagram content to enhance message relevance and timeliness.
How to Use: Choose "Send a Post/Reel" in your campaign/scenario setup. Then from the picker window select the relevant post/reel you want to share.
Technical Limitations: You can only select your posts/reels and must select the post from the picker window. Pasting the link to the content does not work. The Post/Reel ID can only be found in the Instagram API.
Inrō Insider Tips
Keep messages short: Regardless of the type, always ensure the content is as brief as possible. It makes your messaging more engaging and leads to better response rates. For DMs, we recommend breaking messages of more than 50 words into multiple messages.
Test and Iterate: Regularly test different types of messages and timings to see what works best with your target audience. Use Inrō’s scenario and campaign analytics to see what performs better.
Have a mix: There’s no one-size-fits-all with messaging automation. Be sure to use a combination of different message types to cater to different audiences and use cases.
