Inrō is a customer-conversation platform for Instagram businesses and creators. It helps you handle, automate, and grow the conversations people start with you, all from one place. The quickest way to understand it is to be clear about what it does and what it doesn't.
What Inrō is
Inrō works with the messages, comments, and replies your audience sends you, and turns them into organised, automated conversations. The core pieces:
A unified inbox for your Instagram DMs, comments, and story replies in one view.
A contact CRM that builds a profile for everyone who interacts with you, with custom properties, folders, and segments.
Scenarios: automations that react to an interaction (a comment, a story reply, a link click) and run a flow of actions.
DM Campaigns: broadcasts you send to a chosen group of your contacts.
An AI Agent that replies to DMs in your voice, using knowledge you give it.
On top of that, Inrō collects payments, books appointments, connects to tools like Shopify and Calendly, and exposes everything through an API and an MCP server. For the friendly tour, see Welcome to Inrō: What You Can Do.
What Inrō isn't
This is where people's expectations sometimes miss:
It's not a cold-outreach or mass-DM tool. Inrō doesn't blast messages to strangers or to your whole follower list. It works with the people who start a conversation with you.
Auto-DMing new followers isn't available yet. It depends on a Meta beta that isn't reliable, so it's not something we offer today. See Can I Auto-DM New Followers? (Follow-to-DM) for the status and what to do in the meantime.
It's not a growth bot. Inrō doesn't auto-follow, auto-like other accounts, or inflate your numbers. It works on conversations, not vanity metrics.
It's Instagram-first and needs a Business or Creator account. One Instagram account connects to one Inrō organisation.
Why this matters
Because Inrō is inbound by design, the people it can reach are the ones who raise their hand: they comment, reply to a story, click a link into your DMs, or message you. That's why your contact count reflects your engaged audience, not your full follower list. See Why Do I Have Fewer Contacts Than Followers?.
The upside of working this way: your automations only ever talk to people who chose to start a conversation, which keeps your account healthy and your replies welcome.
🐾 Netsuke's Tips
If your goal is "message everyone who follows me," reframe it as "give followers a clear reason to message me." That's what scenarios and comment-to-DM are built for.
Inrō rewards a clear call to action. The more often you invite comments, replies, and clicks, the more conversations it has to work with.
