Instagram Welcome Message Ads

Create and manage welcome message flows for Click-to-Instagram-Direct ads from Inrō.

Welcome Message Ads (Click-to-Instagram-Direct) let you attach a ready-made greeting to your Instagram ads. When someone taps the ad, a DM opens with your message and a few tappable options, so the conversation starts instantly with no waiting. With Inrō, you can create and manage these flows for your account.

Before you start

⚠️ Welcome message flows only work for accounts connected through Instagram login, not Facebook Business login. If your account is connected via Facebook, this feature won't be available.

Create a welcome message flow

A welcome message flow is a greeting plus a set of tappable options. When you build it, choose one of two interaction types:

  • Quick replies: simple text options the contact taps to reply instantly.

  • Buttons: richer options that support postback actions or web URL links.

⚠️ The greeting message is limited to 500 characters, and each quick reply or button label is limited to 20 characters.

Manage your flows

Today, you create and manage welcome message flows through Inrō's API or MCP integration, not a point-and-click screen. You can create a flow, list your existing flows, fetch one by its ID, and delete flows you no longer need. To drive Inrō programmatically, see Connect Your AI Agent to Inrō with the MCP Server.

Attach a flow to your ad

Once a flow exists, it has an ID. Use that flow ID when you set up your Click-to-Instagram-Direct ad in Meta Ads Manager to connect the greeting to your campaign.

🐾 Netsuke's Tips

  • Keep the greeting short and the options obvious. With a 20-character limit per option, clear beats clever.

  • A welcome message ad sets up the opener; a scenario handles what comes next. Pair this with the Someone replies to your ad trigger so tapping an option routes the contact into the right automation. See Trigger scenarios from Ads.

  • Match each option to a path in your flow. If you offer "See pricing" and "Book a call," make sure your scenario branches handle both.
