What are Inrō contacts?
Inbox contacts
Every time someone appears in your Instagram inbox, they are added as a contact in Inrō. There are different ways for contacts to appear in your inbox:
they sent you a DM
they replied to one of your stories
they mentioned you in a story
you sent them a DM (manually from Instagram)
In the last case (you sent them a DM), there are 2 cases:
if they follow you, your DM will appear in their Primary inbox and you will be able to send them additional DMs
if they don't follow you, your DM will appear in their Requests inbox and you will only be able to send them additional DMs after they accepted your request
Comment contacts
In addition to this, when people comment on your posts or reels, they are also added to Inrō but with a special status as they're not in your inbox.
When someone comments on your posts or reels, you can automatically send them one single DM in the following 7 days (24 hours for comments on Live videos).

Whatever the status, you always have the option to manually send them a DM from Instagram. However this can be a long process for hundreds or thousands of contacts.
What are the different statuses?
Based on the previous explanations, here are the possible contact statuses in Inrō:
