You can run Inrō by talking to an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT. Instead of clicking through the app, you ask in plain language: "show me my newest contacts," "build a comment-to-DM scenario for my next post," "start a re-engagement campaign for my cold leads." Your assistant does it in your Inrō account and shows you the result.
This is a quick orientation. When you're ready to set it up, the full walkthrough is in Connect Your AI Agent to Inrō with the MCP Server.
What MCP is
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard that connects AI assistants to outside apps. Inrō runs an MCP Server, so a tool that speaks MCP can connect to your account and take actions for you. Think of it as giving your assistant a set of keys to Inrō.
Once connected, your assistant can reach almost 50 tools across your account, all from a normal chat.
What you can ask it to do
A few examples of what you can hand off:
Contacts: look up, update, and bulk-update contacts; add or remove them from folders.
Messages: send a DM (text, image, video, audio, or one of your posts) to a contact.
Scenarios: list, view, create, update, and trigger your automations.
Campaigns: create, send, and check the performance of a campaign.
Folders and properties: create and manage folders and custom contact properties.
Your AI Agent: view and update its settings, knowledge, and intent-based actions.
You can chain these in one request, like: "Find everyone in my 'VIP' folder who hasn't been messaged in 30 days, then create a re-engagement campaign for them."
How this is different from your AI Agent
These two features both involve AI, so people often mix them up:
Your AI Agent talks to your followers. It replies to incoming Instagram DMs on your behalf.
The MCP Server lets you talk to Inrō. You operate your account through Claude or ChatGPT.
One faces your audience; the other is a control panel for you. You can use either, both, or neither.
What you'll need
An AI assistant that supports MCP. Claude works through custom connectors; ChatGPT works through its Developer Mode (in beta).
A Pro or Trial Inrō subscription, the same requirement as the Private API.
Everything your assistant does is scoped to the one Inrō organization you connect, and it has real write access. There's no sandbox, so review write actions (sending messages, creating campaigns) before you confirm them.
🐾 Netsuke's Tips
Start with read-only requests like "list my folders" or "show me this contact." It's the easiest way to see what your assistant can do before you let it make changes.
Prefer a code-first setup? The MCP Server and the Private API share the same capabilities. See The Inrō Private API: Getting Started.
If you manage several Inrō organizations, the connection uses whichever one you're logged into. Switch organizations in Inrō, then re-authorize to point your assistant at a different account.
