Overview
With Inrō, you can set up automation to reply to comments on your Instagram posts and send a direct message (DM) in one seamless scenario. This guide walks you through setting triggers, filtering options, and optimizing your automation for maximum engagement.
Step 1: Setting the Trigger
Start by defining when the automation should activate. This is the key to ensuring your flow responds to the right comments at the right time.
Trigger Event: Choose "Someone comments on your post" as the trigger.
Refine the Trigger with these options:
Any Post: Respond to comments on all posts.
A Specific Post: Limit the automation to all comments on one particular post.
Posts with a Keyword in the Caption: Trigger the workflow when a post’s caption includes specific keywords. This is useful for promotional or keyword-driven campaigns, for example, "#giveaway" or "New Year Sale"
Comments that Include a Keyword: Activate automation only if the comment contains specific words (e.g., "Price," "Details," or "Buy").
💡 Make your keyword filter comprehensive by including variations, synonyms, and common spelling mistakes of the word.
If your keyword is "Price," include alternatives like "Cost," "Pricing," "How much," or even common misspellings like "Prce".
Step 2: Adding Filters (Optional)
To make your automation even more precise, you can add filters using the Scenario Condition Action.
For instance, you can filter the automation using the "Follower Status" condition to target either followers or non-followers and create a specific reply for non-followers, encouraging them to follow your account before engaging further.
Step 3: Replying to Comments
Engaging with commenters publicly is a great way to showcase responsiveness while keeping the conversation going.
Write Your Reply: Add a reply to the comment within the automation flow.
Example: “Thanks for your interest! Check your DM for more details!”
Add Variants to Avoid Repetition:
Click "Add Comment Variant" to create multiple responses.
Variants help keep interactions fresh by randomly selecting one reply for each comment.
Example Variants:
“Thanks for your comment! We’ve sent you a DM with the details.”
“Hi there! Please check your DM for more info!”
Step 4: Sending a Direct Message (DM)
After replying to the comment publicly, you can continue the conversation privately via a DM:
Draft Your DM: Write a personalized message that provides value or answers questions.
Example: “Hi! Thanks for reaching out. Here’s the pricing information for our product: [Link]. Let us know if you have any questions!”
One DM Rule: Instagram’s policy allows you to send only one DM Request to a user until they accept it.
⚠️ Once the first DM is sent, additional automated DMs cannot be sent until the recipient accepts the initial message.
Example Use Case
Imagine you’re promoting a new product on Instagram:
Scenario: A follower comments, “Price?”
Public Reply: Your workflow automatically replies, “Thanks for your interest! We’ve sent you a DM with the details.”
Private DM: The workflow sends a personalized message:
“Hi! Thanks for asking about our latest product. The price is $49.99, and here’s the link to buy: [Link]. Let us know if you have any questions!”Outcome: You’ve engaged with the commenter publicly, created a sense of trust with transparency, and followed up privately to facilitate a sale.
